Description

Thermo Scientific Phusion® Bacterial Profiling Kit enables fast and user-friendly profiling and characterization of bacterial populations. The profiling method is based on terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) and it is suitable for any sample material containing bacteria. Such sample material can range from human and animal samples to food and environmental samples, for example. The Phusion Bacterial Profiling Kit includes a complete set of reagents for PCR and subsequent endonuclease digestion. Password for a web database of T-RFLP peak values, which represents more than 60 000 bacterial targets, is included with the purchase of this kit.

Application fields

Short and simple protocol

The Phusion Bacterial Profiling Kit includes a complete set of reagents for PCR and subsequent endonuclease digestion.

PCR with fluorescently labeled primers

1. PCR with differentially labeled fluorescent primers

Endonuclease digestion 2. Endonuclease digestion

Capillary electrophoresis

3. Capillary electrophoresis
The T-RFLP electropherogram obtained with the Phusion Bacterial Profiling Kit contains two peaks for each sample representing the differentially labeled restriction fragments.

Characterization of the peaks with tailor-made database

4. Characterization of the peaks using tailor-made database
Access to a regularly updated database of T-RFLP peak values is included with the purchase of the Phusion® Bacterial Profiling Kit. Just log in and type the two peak values in the database. The database lists the bacterial species or subgroups matching to your search.
